Trainings - Disaster Response Crisis Counselors

The Mercer County Division of Mental Health recently hosted a Psychological First Aid training as part of our work to recruit and train new members for our Disaster Response Crisis Counselors team. These volunteer counselors assist individuals and communities in recovering from the effects of natural and human-caused disasters by providing community-based outreach and psycho-educational services.

New Jersey law currently addresses domestic violence under the Safe Housing Act. A 2026 bill, S1210, would expand related rental protections to victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, or stalking, but that bill is identified as introduced and pending—not enacted.
