NJ250: Living Documents, Evolving Rights. 1776-2026
Visit The New Jersey State Library (NJSL) for a glimpse into New Jersey’s revolutionary constitutional past.
Staff will provide tours of the new exhibit on July 2nd, 6th, 7th, and 8th, twice daily at 11:00 a.m. and 1:30 p.m., at 185 W State St.
The NJSL invites you to view items from their new in-person NJ250 exhibit as part of their greater “NJ250: Living Documents, Evolving Rights” celebration (https://www.njstatelib.org/exhibits/nj250/).
NJSL staff have curated materials from the library’s Jerseyana and NJ Documents collections that highlight each era of New Jersey’s constitutional history: The Revolutionary Era, the Reform Era, and the Modern Era. Examine how New Jersey’s constitutions have changed throughout the centuries to reflect evolving ideas on human decency and voting rights.
The exhibit will be on view on the library’s 4th floor, starting July 2026.
The New Jersey State Library, located in the State Capital Complex, is open to the public weekdays from 10 am to 4 pm. Please bring a form of state ID to enter the building. Children must be accompanied by an adult at all times.
